Rudas Bath Renovation

The Rudas Bath in Budapest, a historic spa dating back over 400 years, underwent a significant renovation in 2014 to enhance its appeal and functionality. Located along the Danube, this iconic bathhouse received upgrades including new swimming pools, saunas, a restaurant, a café, and a stunning roof terrace with a jacuzzi offering panoramic city views.

Modern design vs historical elegance

A major highlight of the renovation is the revitalized facade of the south wing, featuring 21 grating elements, 40 surface-structured precast elements, and 67 plain white panels. These elements are made with girih decor, an intricate geometric pattern reminiscent of Ottoman architectural traditions. The use of Rohoznik White Cement from Danucem help the facades to achieve a snow-white aesthetic and brilliant finish. This high-quality white cement, known for its bright color and superior technical properties, was selected for its ability to produce exceptionally vivid concrete elements.

Ivanka Factory & Design Services, a renowned Budapest-based Concrete Design brand, crafted these elegant concrete components. The company, recognized for its innovative approach to concrete design and engineering, utilized Rohoznik White Cement to create the graceful and detailed facade elements. The precast elements' production displayed a fusion of traditional artistry and modern technology, resulting in a facade that is both contemporary and richly ornamental.

The renovation of Rudas Bath brings clean, modern lines of the white concrete elements into contrast with the playful, oriental girih decor, creating a unique visual paradox that captures the essence of Budapest's rich cultural heritage. This renovation not only enhances the spa's appeal but also adds a new layer of architectural interest to the city, inviting both locals and tourists to experience its historic charm and modern amenities.
